# Estimates in Tally for QuickBooks

> Create QuickBooks estimates from any Salesforce record with an account, such as an opportunity. When the customer accepts in QuickBooks, the status comes back to Salesforce, and Convert to Invoice creates the invoice from the estimate, linked to it in QuickBooks.

## What it does

- Create Estimate on the record: QuickBooks customer, estimate and expiration dates, lines, discount, tax and messages; Save, or Save and Send.
- Statuses Pending, Accepted, Declined, Closed and Converted; set one yourself with Mark Accepted or Update Status.
- Convert to Invoice opens the invoice form filled from the estimate (customer, addresses, lines, discount, tax, shipping, custom fields); the estimate becomes Converted.
- Converting is a button you press; a record-triggered Flow can react to Accepted, for example by creating the invoice with Create Invoice on QBO - Easy Setup.
- Generate PO opens the purchase order builder filled from the estimate; Generate PDF downloads the QuickBooks PDF.
- Separate permission sets for Save and for Save and Send on estimates.

## Sync

- Salesforce to QuickBooks: estimates are created, edited and sent from Salesforce.
- QuickBooks to Salesforce: estimate changes come back through QuickBooks webhooks, including the status and who accepted it and when.

## Questions

### How does the customer accept an estimate?

The same way as any QuickBooks estimate: from the email QuickBooks sends. Accepted, Declined or Closed comes back to the estimate in Salesforce with the name of the person who accepted it and the date. You can also set the status yourself with Mark Accepted or Update Status.

### What does Convert to Invoice copy?

The customer and its email, Bill to CC, billing and shipping addresses, the lines, the discount, the sales tax rate, shipping, the messages and your QuickBooks custom fields. You set the terms and dates, then Save or Save and Send.

### Is the invoice linked to the estimate?

Yes. The invoice is created in QuickBooks linked to the estimate, the estimate's status becomes Converted, and Convert to Invoice no longer shows on it.

### Does an accepted estimate turn into an invoice on its own?

QuickBooks doesn't do that. In Salesforce the estimate's status is a field on a record, so a record-triggered Flow can react when it becomes Accepted, for example by creating the invoice with the Create Invoice on QBO - Easy Setup action or by telling the owner.

### Can I make a purchase order from an estimate?

Yes. Generate PO on the estimate opens the purchase order builder with the estimate's details.
