# Data Migration in Tally for QuickBooks

## What it does

- Sync Customers imports active QuickBooks customers as QBO Customer records linked to Salesforce accounts, matched by company or display name.
- Create Salesforce Accounts for new customers creates accounts for customers without a match; any link can be changed by hand.
- Sync settings choose which customer fields update in Salesforce when a customer changes in QuickBooks.
- Historical Invoice Import: pick a date range, see Total Found, Ready to Import and Issues Found, fix or skip, then import in the background.
- Invoices already in Salesforce are updated, not duplicated; payments recorded in QuickBooks come with them; every step is written to the QBO Logs.
- Products on the lines must exist in Salesforce first (Sync Products).

## Questions

### How do QuickBooks customers get into Salesforce?

Sync Customers in the Tally Hub imports your active QuickBooks customers. Each one becomes a QBO Customer record in Salesforce, with its contact details and addresses, linked to a Salesforce Account.

### How is each customer matched to an Account?

By name: the customer's company name, or its display name when there's no company name, against your Account names. Turn on Create Salesforce Accounts for new customers to create an Account when nothing matches, or leave it off and link those customers by hand from the Account column.

### Will I lose my invoice history?

No. Historical Invoice Import brings past QuickBooks invoices into Salesforce for any date range, with their amounts, dates and line items, and the payments recorded against them in QuickBooks.

### Will it create duplicates?

No. It checks whether each invoice already exists in Salesforce and updates it with the latest QuickBooks data instead of creating a second one, so it's safe to run again.

### What if a customer or product is missing?

The analysis shows it before anything is imported. Create Accounts for customers that need one with a click, or choose to skip those invoices. Product lines need the product in Salesforce first, so import products with Sync Products before you start.

### How long does a big import take?

The import runs in the background, and you can close the page. Salesforce limits how much one run can process, so a long history can take more than one run. Every step is written to the QBO Logs.

### Do I have to do the migration myself?

You can run it from the Tally Hub. Or our team does it: the Data Migration add-on is a one-time service that imports your QuickBooks customers as Salesforce accounts and contacts and maps them for invoicing.
