# Tally for QuickBooks: QuickBooks Online inside Salesforce

> Tally for QuickBooks is a Salesforce app (a managed package on Salesforce AppExchange, namespace QBObyTALLY) that connects Salesforce to QuickBooks Online. Teams create QuickBooks invoices, estimates, sales receipts and purchase orders and take payments from any Salesforce record, and customers, products, payments and document status sync between the two systems.

## Requirements

- Salesforce Professional, Enterprise or Unlimited edition (Lightning Experience).
- QuickBooks Online. QuickBooks Desktop is not supported.
- QuickBooks Payments on the QuickBooks company, only to charge cards and bank accounts (recording cash or checks doesn't need it).
- One QuickBooks Online company per Salesforce org, connected with QuickBooks' own sign-in (OAuth 2.0); QuickBooks sandbox companies can be connected for testing.

## Where it works

The package's components go on any Lightning record page. Invoices, estimates and sales receipts need the record's account lookup field (the admin names it when placing the component), because the account is how a document finds its QuickBooks customer. Opportunities and accounts are the usual places; orders, work orders and custom objects work the same way. On opportunities, lines can be fetched from the opportunity's products; elsewhere reps search products, or an admin adds a button that builds the lines with a Flow.

## How the sync works

Saving in Salesforce writes to QuickBooks Online at that moment. Changes made in QuickBooks come back through QuickBooks change notifications (webhooks, set up during installation), so a payment, a voided invoice or an edited customer shows up in Salesforce on its own.

- Salesforce to QuickBooks: invoices, estimates, sales receipts, purchase orders, payments, customers, and products (on export or with real-time product sync on).
- QuickBooks to Salesforce: customers, invoices (including voids), payments, estimate status, sales receipts, purchase orders, products and prices, vendors, classes, tax codes, payment methods, custom field definitions and the chart of accounts, depending on the features in use.
- Every call to QuickBooks is logged in Salesforce (QBO Logs) with QuickBooks' response.
